As They Strike has been undergoing a transition this year. We are slowly saying goodbye to the collective’s co-founder Stefania who is busy with very exciting projects, and welcoming in new members: Bailey Eng, Claire MacIsaac and Lucy Fandel! Together we have been rediscovering what As They Strike’s mission looks like with a group of four artists and enjoying the possibilities this change brings.
To Stefania: thank you for all your time, energy and creativity. The joy you bring to the creation process and your teaching expertise will always be a part of the collective.
To Lucy, Claire and Bailey:
Welcome!
Coming Soon: Art-à-Emporter with the CCGV!
We have collaborated with the George Vanier Cultural Centre to offer you digital movement workshops that can be with you wherever you go! We put together a series of videos that walk you through compositional excercises that will have you thinking creatively about your body in the house, on your morning walk, and wherever else your day takes you.

We put together a series of videos that walk you through compositional excercises that will have you thinking creatively about your body in the house, on your morning walk, and wherever else your day takes you. These workshops belong to the George Vanier Cultural Centre’s (CCGV) Art-à-emporter program (meaning “Art-to-go”!).
Art-à-emporter is a series of online custom created workshops lef by five local artists. By watching the video clips, you will discover the different creative processes as well as tips and tricks to inspire you. The visual arts workshops are accompanied by a material kit, which you can pick up directly at the CCGV in order to simplify your experience as much as possible, so that you can devote yourself entirely to the creation!
Born out of a desire to pursue the mission of the CCGV differently, the Art-à-emporter project was intended to make creative activities available at all times, online. The project was entirely conceived and developed by the CCGV team. When you purchase a workshop through Art-à-emporter, you are helping to support the CCGV and its mandate.
The series of six videos will give you an introduction to As They Strike, a warm-up (which we would love for you to before each video!) and a taste of the fun we have in our workshops. We hope to be able to get together with folks who follow along with us later in the season to be able to dance together in a shared space and hear about your experience!
The CCGV has so far released two wonderful online worshop series. If you are interested in visual arts, check them out here! Our series will be posted soon… Keep your eyes peeled!
Art-à-emporter is propelled by Sport et Loisir de l'île de Montréal and was realized thanks to the financial contribution of the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications.

As They Strike is a contemporary dance collective. We like to present our work in public spaces so that we can create close relationships with our audiences, and maybe reach people who would not normally think about seeing a contemporary dance show. We want to be where the people are!
We believe that anyone can enjoy dance - it doesn’t take a background in art, dance training, or any kind of expertise. That goes for dancing as much as watching dance! As well as performances, we offer movement workshops designed to share our process with others, no matter their age or movement experience. The goals is to explore how your body moves, and how you can create with it!
We love to move and we love to laugh. Whether you join us in the studio for a rehearsal or for a workshop, we want the experience to be joyful - after all, it’s just dancing!
We can’t wait to meet you.
Love, Chloe and Stefania
